I just Got a BelKin N52te off a friend who couldn't find the cds.I've been searching the Belkin website/razer/N52te for all there drivers and editors i've musta downloaded them all and still nothing . I heard that the Belkin N52te Model has like a 50/50% chance of working on windows 7..
So i reformatted lol installed Windows Xp Sp2 figuring that would solve the problems but no..now i still don't have any control at all on the N52te but in my control panel i notice in the game controllers Razer Nostromo is there and Virtual HID Device .I've tried doing the Calibrate but still no luck buttons and keypad does nothing. when i load the Razer nostromo editor it closes down right away saying razer not connected ,The Belkin N52te editor stays open but says its not connected. From what Iv'e read on forums and youtube is that you need the original drivers off the cd seems like that is the most efficient way to get it to work it wont be up to date but least working. I've been looking for 2-3 days cant find the original drivers/editor cd online . was kinda hoping maybe one of you lucky people who got the N52Te with a cd could burn it and email it to me facebook/msn/skype ANYTHING! lol this damn thing been stressing me out all week i even reformatted and downgraded to win Xp for damn thing lol <edited out><-------0-o<---------hlp me!
I'm thinking of getting one of these game pads, but Mac drivers seem spotty at best. Belkin's site has an old driver (1.0.2) for Mac OSX 10.4, and Razer has not responded to my inquiries if they would be supporting a Mac version for 10.6.5.
Is it possible to use a 3rd party driver for key assignments on either/both? I'm currently on a MacPro1,1 Dual-Core Intel Xeon. Thanks so much.
I think Razer has stated that all of their current lineup will get OS X support.
That being said, see if there's any mention of these working with Steermouse or USB Overdrive.
I use the N52te and the Razor Naga and have no issues at all on my mac. It works well in default and is super easy to use with Bartender or Dominoes
The n52te is effectively discontinued, so there probably won't be any new driver support. I'm not as familiar with the Mac/OSX side of support for these two as I'd like, but there are currently drivers for up to 10.5. Beyond that I wouldn't expect anything new.
Razer bought out the line, and is doing support for the new Nostromo. There do not appear to be Mac drivers, and it doesn't look like Razer's much for Mac support. :( I'd keep an eye out for now. If Razer does come thru with Mac drivers for the Nostromo, I would definitely go with that one. If you're absolutely dieing for a gamepad now. You might want to look a the Logitech G13. I'm not fond of it, but Logitech does have good Mac support, so it might be your best short term solution.
If being a full 1.5 years behind in getting mac drivers out the door for half their products is having good mac support..uh..yeah.
I use USB Overdrive with their products. It's more configurable and doesn't crash like the Logitech Control Center software does..constantly. :) The n52te is effectively discontinued, so there probably won't be any new driver support. You do realize that the Nostromo is hardware identical to the n52TE, right? Oh, and a fun tidbit: The original n52 hardware was called (get this) Nostromo, back when Belkin first introduced it. I suspect the Razer drivers would work equally well with the current n52/TE. ![]()
I am very familiar with all three, having owned and used them.
The original was the Nostromo N50, and had 10 buttons. didn't own that one. While the shell is identical between the n52te and the new Nostromo, the internals are different. Razer did the chipset for the n52te, but pretty much underestimated what people would expect from the unit, so it underperformed in areas like macro support. The new Nostromo has an updated chipset and dpad hardware. The n52 driver did all the interpretation in software. The n52te had onboard storage, and did all key press interpretation onboard, so the software was just to write the profiles and macros and send them to the n52te. It's not clear if the new unit has any onboard storage or if all keypress interpretation is done in software. However, I can confirm that the drivers for each version will NOT work with any other version. Sorry. I really wanted the new updated drivers for the Nostromo to be backwards compatable with the n52te.
According to Razer's web page, they will be releasing Mac drivers for the Nostromo keypad in the third quarter of 2011, which would mean by the end of September.
They confirmed the released date for today. Yet no release happened. Very disappointed with razer
Thanks for the update Hesso.
I've double checked, and it looks like it's on there now. ________________________________________________ Mac Tech Support for Baaaaahlizzard Entertainment || Fri-Tue 1:45 pm - 10:45 pm CST http://www.surveymk.com/s/RF8K3KG---- Rate my Baaaaalue Posts. How's this sheep doing? It's the return of the Mac, you know that i'll be back, oh oh ohhhh!! Everyone to the farm, take the farm! This is AV, sir..
Too bad I can't afford (and don't have the desk space) for one of those sweet, sweet high resolution display touchpads. Would be awesome to have all my buttons at my fingertips and see the game screen without having to remember which keybind goes where. :)
I can't speak to the Mac support, but the Razer editions suck in my opinion. I had nothing but problems when initially replacing my N52te with the razer follow-up. And the latest-greatest ones are even worse. I picked up an n50 at oddlots back when Nostromo was making them and eventually upgraded to the N52. Both were quite useful and I recommended them at the time for wow even though the construction wasn't the greatest. By the time I retired my N52, it looked like something out of a frankenstien movie with all the hack fixes and repairs I had done on it to keep it working. The biggest problem was the thumb control, the underlying assembly and the cable. I had to cut the cable shorter twice and replace the ends, and had to fix/repair/re-enforce the thumb control at least a dozen time until the final version had metal pins re-enforcing the + structure on the underside and the PC board had extra solder and epoxy re-enforcing it on both sides.
The belkin variant greatly improved the thumb control and I've never had a problem with that part of the assembly. The paint on the LED back-lit keys wears off pretty quick though and eventually, my most used keys start to wear out. (but I tend to abuse these things pretty good doing pvp) My experience with the initial razer was that the paint and keys wore out even quicker and the overall assembly was cheapened somewhat and I was concerned I was just opening up another nightmare of endless repairs and re-enforcements. My biggest issues were with the software though. I created mappings for all four action bars and since you start to run out of keys, I map shift/control/alt combinations to map out the remaining three bars. There are two ways to map these in the Razer, one is to map the mixed key combination as a single key - I had nothing but nightmares with this option. The game would get stuck-key states constantly and you'd be in the middle of a conflict and suddenly your toon would start rotating endlessly and you'd pay hell getting it to stop, generally requiring you to unplug the damn controller, shut down the software and fist roll the asdw keys to get it to stop. The other method was the method the Belkin requires which was to map out simple macros which included shift-down-key-shift-up type macros. The problem then on the Nostromo software was that it would not isolate these (especially if you used any timing) and chording became a real problem hitting one key that say had Control-Alt-V and another that was just supposed to be P and you would instead get the combination of Control-Alt-V, Control-Alt-P instead of what you wanted. Now the newest Nostromo has a problem with the map toggling. Namely, if you decided to make a couple of momentary keys to toggle the mapping states (e.g. Red - Blue - Green) you can get stuck in one you don't want. In other words, if 'Red' is your default state, and one button toggles Blue, one button toggles Green, the manner the new Nostromo uses is 'return to prior mapping' when the key is let up. So if you hit the 'Blue' toggle then before letting it up you hit the Green toggle (then let up the Blue toggle), when you let up the Green button it returns you to the Blue map rather than the default Red map. Add to this that the new Nostromo gets rid of the index finger scroll-wheel-button and just replaces it with a single extra key, the thumb controller is awkward, smaller, flimsy and off axis slightly so it's not obvious what is supposed to be up-down and what is supposed to be left-right. Finally, the overall construction feels 'cheaper' and flimsier. I'm afraid with any stress at all, the thumb bar is going to bust right off and the rest of the frame doesn't feel much better. I recomment the N52te if you can find one and manage to get drivers for it. Of all the Nostromo variants, it's the best
OP posted his question back in 2010. Pretty sure they have made their choice by now. Lol
